Farhad Darya’s Peace Concert took place July 19 and was aired live on the Afghan Ariana TV channel on the eve of the conference, attended by several hundred Afghans and over 60 VIPs from the Afghan government, EU, and other foreign delegations, including US Deputy Ambassador Anthony Wayne. People applauded as popular Afghan singer Farhad Darya, who is also a Peace Ambassador of the United Nations in Afghanistan, performed during a concert held one day before an international conference. Afghanistan hosted a key international conference aiming to show that the war-torn country is acting on past pledges. Furthermore, the conference aimed at following a process of transition after the tens of thousands of US-led NATO troops depart.
