August 2nd, Kabul

Darya’s new album “Yaahoo” that was recorded in Munich, Germany was released in Afghanistan on August second. This album is recorded for the purpose of solidarity among Afghans around the world. According to Mr. Darya the album is to extend the message of peace and unity across the country and it is supposed to be given to public for free. After the introduction of Darya’s new album and a live performance of “Yaahoo” songs a press conference was held at Kabul Serena where Darya answered to the media and questions that were raised by the audience. Some pictures are viewable at the end of this page.

This work, in my view, is the most powerful and genuine attempt to unite a wounded nation almost half of which were scattered around the world and went into exile for decades. Music is the only collective therapy to heal the loss, bereavement, and psychological scars we suffered as a nation. Every track is masterly composed , with all the ingredients, as if it is tailor-made for each part of the country with the tongue and tone people can understand and call their own. This is a phenomenal achievement never seen anywhere in the world where an artist of such talent can create such a moving work which can reach everyone. When I say everyone I mean beyond the borders of our country.

To Make it short, I simply agree with TSN :)

The more I think about it, the more I come to conclusion that with and through music, Afghan nation can be healed and resorted. How and Where was the question on my mind for a long time. Yes, hearing Farhad brought that dream to reality. With his songs, he touches people’s heart. There is a sense of pride (a good pride) in Farhad’s songs. I know some people that they are really ashamed to be called Afghans, but I sincerely hope that Farhad’s albums (Salaam Afghanistan, Ha and Yahoo) would bring a pride to those Afghan fellows. Also, I thought our national anthem should be one of Farhad’s songs in “Ha!” album called ~ Aazadi!

Special thanks to those on the background that we don’t see and hear. They actually put a huge effort to make these albums. Thanks for uniting Afghans. Thank you for not just sitting in the west and have opinions about Afghanistan, but being available and tangible in Afghanistan. Thanks for including all the ethnic groups of Afghanistan in your albums. It means a lot to this country.

His Yaahoo album is not for sale because of its message (peace and unity). Because of this, it was given away to people in Afghanistan for free and with mr. Darya’s permittion it was put online on several websites so other listeners around the world could also listen to it. In other words, it is all done with permittion of mr. Darya and his management.

LG Ramin
