July 2008,

Recently, Darya has been cooperating with many Western artists in order to promote Afghan music among Western audiences. One of these artists is Peter Maffay, a rock legend from Germany. Maffay founded Encounters – An Alliance for Children, a group of a dozen artists from all around the world who formed an alliance to help needy children all around the world. During this alliance, Darya recorded and released his first rock song named “Salaamalek” which became an instant hit both among Darya’s fans and the audience of Encounters from all around the world.

A little while later, Darya recorded “Gorgore”, the first Pashto rock song and presented this song for the first time during the Encounters tour in 2007. Again, shortly after that he recorded “Salaam Afghanistan” in rock style. Darya has shifted more and more towards rock music next to his other music styles in the past few years, making it a very unique style of music mixed with Afghani elements. His best rock song hit yet is “Nazdeek Shodan” from his latest album “HA!” which is a mix of ethnic music with hard rock.
